Ken Fleak received the PhD and the MA at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and the BSE from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Fleak's research has focused upon Latin American Literature and foreign language education. He has published one book and 19 journal articles and reviews, served as a referee for the Modern Language Journal and Studies in Twentieth-Century Literature, and made 26 scholarly presentations to high school teacher groups and at local, regional, and national conferences.

Dr. Fleak previously taught at Kansas State University and the University of South Carolina. His experience includes teaching elementary and intermediate Spanish, advanced composition and conversation, Latin American literature survey, methodology for teaching foreign languages at both the high school and university levels, advisor for Spanish majors and minors, supervisor of secondary school teaching, and coordinator of the basic Spanish courses at the university level. He has received several teaching awards, among these, Two Thumbs Up Excellence in Teaching 2005, Faculty Advisor of the Year 2005, Who's Who Among America's Teachers 1996, 1997, 1998, Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching 1995, Outstanding Young Men of America 1986, and the Excellence in Teaching Award while a graduate student at the University of Missouri. Dr. Fleak is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.
