Dr.Tabanelli's research interests are in contemporary Italian cinema and literature, film studies, cultural studies, Neapolitan cinema and literature, transnational cinema, and posthuman theories. She has published a book on contemporary Neapolitan cinema, I ‘pori’ di Napoli. Il cinema di Mario Martone, Antonio Capuano e Pappi Corsicato (Longo Editore, 2011), and has written articles on a number of Italian contemporary writers and filmmakers, including Marco Bechis, Saverio Costanzo, Antonietta De Lillo, Erri De Luca, Mario Martone, Laura Pugno, and Simona Vinci. Her articles have been published in New Cinemas: Journal of Contemporay Film, Studies in European Cinema, Italian Culture, Italica, Annali d'Italianistica, and in various volumes and collections. She is also co-author of the Workbook and Lab Manual and the correspondingAudioscript and Answer Key for Crescendo! 2nd ed. (Thomson Heinle, 2007) and of the Film Study Program Bianco e nero (Edizioni Farinelli, 2013). She is currently working on a textbook for intermediate to advanced Italian composition courses (forthcoming for Farinelli in Fall 2015) and on a book-length project on contemporary Italian transnational cinema.
