Dr. Mónica Marcos-Llinás’ research and teaching interests deal with second/foreign language acquisition, affective learning/teaching, applied linguistics, service learning and immigration, and Catalan language and culture. Her dissertation “Affective variables in language learning” examines the role of language anxiety, attitudes, and motivation as well as personality traits in second/foreign language acquisition. She has published several articles in Foreign Language Annals, Interlingüística, and Pissarra.

At the University of Missouri, Dr. Marcos-Llinás teaches advanced Spanish courses, as well as an Introduction to Catalan Language and Culture. Dr. Marcos-Llinás is currently finishing the translation from English to Spanish of the book, Africans in Europe: The Culture of Exile and Emigration from Equatorial Guinea to Spain, published by the University of Illinois Press 2010
